2026.08 2000 Point Event

This event will be held August 8th at Hobbytown USA in Castleton

The doors open at 9.00, and games will start around 9.30-10. Players will be matched up upon arrival where possible and may start early if they like.

If you forget dice or a tape measure, these can be provided. If you forget your army, then enjoy watching other people play.

This event will be using the current mission decks, but using the official app is recommended for tracking scores, etc.

There is no need to turn lists in ahead of time, and the most recent rules releases will be applied.

Having a notepad or other system to track your score and other details is recommended. It is not your opponent's or the organizer's responsibility to track this for you.

Players that finish early are free to go grab food as needed, and light refreshments are available for purchase at HT.

See here for more information about Matched Play events.

Rules

This event will follow the GW Event Companion, with the match ups varying depending on number of attendees.

Army Composition

2000 points, and your force disposition must be selected at army build time.

All lists should follow the most recent version of rules available for that faction. Lists do not need to be turned in beforehand, but must be available to be viewed by your opponents. Follow the guidelines for 2000 points with the following addenda:

Rule Disputes

If a dispute on a rule cannot be resolved within 3 minutes, a dice role will determine precedent for that game.

Painting Requirements

All models must be painted and based to receive the 10 points per game. Exceptions will be made for newer players at your opponent/organizer discretion.

The rule of thumb is that the army should, at a distance, have no noticeable lack of painted models and look relatively cohesive.

Proxies/Conversions

Proxies and conversions are encouraged as long as a model can be readily identified and the equipment the model has reflects what it will be used to have. If your opponent in the heat of the game misidentifies one of your models due to the loadout option you're 'counting as', then any dispute resulting will favor your opponent.

Base sizes and footprints should be best-effort, but variances will be allowed where model age or modelling effort will explain the difference.

Any model ambiguity that affects gameplay will result in that model counting as 'unpainted' and the corresponding points penalty taken.

Game duration

Games will last up to 3 hours. The first players to finish a game each round and report their scores will receive bonus points. Once half the tables have completed their games, the remainder will be told to finish their current turn and the next round will begin as soon as possible.

Terrain

11th Edition footprints will be used for each table, and terrain provided that will be close to the recommended sizes and shapes. Terrain as it exists on the table will take precedence over the shapes on the maps.

Some of the corner pieces of terrain may not have a second level, in which case if either player takes issue with that they can be moved to a table that does have that feature. For all terrain that does have the second level, single infantry models with overhang will be permitted as the depth isn't always consistent.

Game and Table Setup

Players will randomly determine their layout upon arrival at the table and will have 5 minutes to set that up before preparing to deploy.

It is recommended that each player sets up the same piece on each side at the same time, with one player calling out the measurements needed. Each player can then double-check the other. "Close enough" placement is not just allowed, but encouraged.

Stratagems

These are bonus stratagems available to all players during the event. These may not be affected by any rule that changes the cost of a stratagem. Unless noted, these do not target a unit directly and can be used at any time, albeit still only once per phase.

Name CP Effect
Nope 2 This will cancel the effect of a stratagem your opponent just played
Try Again 1 You may force your opponent to re-roll a single die
Win 10 You win the game. Report scores immediately to the organizer as they currently stand.

Bonus Missions

The following are bonus missions players may have. At the start of the day, each player will randomly determine which of these they are playing, and they will get the appropriate bonus points at the end of the day.

Roll Mission Effect
1 Head Hunter 1 point for each character unit destroyed. 3 points for each warlord unit destroyed.
2 Poor Planning 1 point for each command point held at the end of each game.
3 Shock Assault 1 point for each friendly unit that makes an ingress move.
4 Avoidance 2 points for each friendly unit not visible to any enemy models at the end of each game.
5 Wanderer Each time your warlord makes a normal move, add the total of that movement to a running tally and receive 1 point for every 6" at the end of the game.
6 Whipping Boy 1 point each time a friendly unit is destroyed.
